elections eve
an elction looms, continuous hyping, yet i have an inkling of change leaping into laps nationwide. is it some optimistic streak eeking its way out? or simply hope seeking and outlet? ill have to sit a spell. think about it. not like that matters, anyway, though. the structures of power are already so interlaced with THE WORLD that any real TRutH is probably lost in slipstreams. we will see what the (voting) populace has to say. Whatever shape takes form, will they actually DO anything? nothing can be done in iraq. its just like osama called it-before our invasion---the us will bleed in all directions in iraq--.
but what about environmental, policy, stem cell research, education, agricultural reform, energy research, "social security", seriously. they have some work to do- right? defending their branch of the government? right? defend the republic and the phreaking people-ok?

idiots of the evening
in tapatia, late. 3AM. packed house. cyn and i are fresh out of the agora. entertainment? some fresh-out-the-club, slick black shirt wearing jackass with 3 young ladyfriends starts hooping. yes, hooping. whoop whoop. this woulda been just slightly annoying if it only lasted 30 seconds or so-but it went on for at least 30 min. after 5 min-a shouting match began with the redneck in the \ 'stros cap at the far end. one telling the other to shutup, the blackshirted jackass just whooping away. hysterical, annoying, funny. they eventually left, but not before one of his hot friends apologized for her incredibly uncool friend. i replied, no need to apologize, this capped off a night of interesting shite.

texas letters: hearts, minds, etc...
check this old post out-may 2k4. slightly uneven though- but hey, 2.5 yrs. canthe facts remain mstly the same-unemployment rate of 40 per cent rather than 78. seems i was a Bit optimistic, though-especially as to the swift implementain, er, acceptance, of capitalism. i was wrong in thinking the us had any intention in reacting to conditions on the ground early on. i was naive enough 2 think the us might acutally fund reconstruction sufficiently. i was naive 2 think that idealism was the proper prism with which to view this war, to think it might somehow work out. 3.5 yrs, 75K Iraqis dead, 2700 americans. 600 billion dollars spent, 18 billion of that was reconstruction. what a sad ratio of guns to aid that is.

craptacular
how phreaking spectacular is our congress? vast new powers are up for grabs-wiretapping, etc. get ready everybody, because with the "compromise" allowing torture, along came the spider weaving his web of surveillance over all of us. hoorrah. I just cant wait to be fully protected from all those darned terrorists!!!! i mean, there are just so many of them that i just cant count. i am afraid, america!! thank god for congress, the prez, rummy, cheney, etc. i mean, if it were nt 4 those guys, i, mean, who knows man.
p.s. (the world)- t minus 20 yrs or so
seriously, though now. about time i posted. the war in iraq is going even worse, the cycle of violence has not stopped-in palestine or anywhere else and we seem ever closer to some sort of military confrontation with iran. jobs, jobs, where are the iraqi jobs? 50 per cent unemployment. 3.5 yrs. a ghastly, petrifyingly appalling situation in total.

BBC NEWS | Middle East | Gunmen kidnap 50 in Iraqi capital
"They took all the workers from the companies and nearby shops," he told the Associated Press news agency."-"The ministry of the interior has nothing to do with this arrest and especially not the commando forces and the forces of public order brigades who are not authorised to do such operations," Maj Gen Rashid Fulayah-
The rule of law, or even general order , in the capital city has never materialized. I do believe there was an early window for a realist success-with the proper policies, but that gift is gone, and now here is where we stand-6000 bodies so far this year and 50 people get kidnapped-"The commander of the police commandos in Baghdad denied earlier reports that the raid was officially sanctioned"--right there. between chaos and collapse is where THEY are. We need regional cooperation-now! Unemployment, i believe is a root cause of unrest. The "security environment" is given as a counterpoint-but we are back to square 1. which comes first? Employment must be provided to those out of work. Would almost certainly contribute to stability. The masses of unrealized talent needs to be cultivated, which takes time that could be provided by such a policy. It seems so simple of an equation-although part of a master equation, this piece could fit nicely into the jewel of a world that would shine. kidnap 50 in Iraqi capital

MIDWIFE OF INVENTION
25 feet of concrete 400 miles a wall, that which is being constructed as we walk about our regular day. built to divide and give-extra land to the israelis, of course. how can one stop the cycle of violence? i can see a day, though, when all men find a way to coexist in peace. where transparent governments who can no longer secret their way around. when even the government has "personal responsibility"! ha! you say. soon? probably not. the in-between? incredibly tumultuous. life in the early 21st century? incredibly complicated. overall? the future will be limitless-if we can get across the threshold we are on, now. imagine-cheaply produced, clean energy. a renewed focus on locally grown and sold organic produce, a de-fastfoodization of america, if you will. a realization that we(and corporations) can use and accept environmentally friendly products, services, and strict controls and countermeasures on ALL sources of pollution. Such policies would inevitably become the MIDWIFE OF INVENTION, creating opportunites for companies to take place in some kind of green revolution that says being green does not automaitically make enemies if capitalists. i am stopping now-must go to bed-but look at the map of the separation wall here: http://electronicintifada.net/cgi-bin/artman/exec/view.cgi/7/1775

on gasoline
gasoline. petrol. what is happening to our republic? ok. too cliche a queston. but with congress putting all seriousness aside, and NOBODY offering up real solutions-whats a guy to do? how about not blaming the oil companies, for once. they are corporations, and therefore by design profit when their commodity price goes ever higher. If one reads big media, listens to right wing talk radio(20 million rush listeners alone-know your enemy's power, reach and message-all the better to defeat them!), the House, the Senate- they all play the blame game with Big Oil- or they call to drill more oil! ridiculous!!! Our governing bodies are devoid of ideas.
I think a few obvious and pragmatic items might help depressurize the spectre of peak oil until (hopefully) ingenuity and invention offer a real solution. here goes.
first, make a national gasoline standard which is as tough (or almost as) as the strongest state requirements. this will be both environmentally friendly(sic)-and provide for efficient movement of product. second, build a new refinery with the most stringent environmental standards that current technologies provide. it should also follow that all existing refineries should be upgraded to this standard as well. Third, encourage cities to build mass transit, and develop new rail tech to transport freight. our mode of transportation is fundamentally flawed, is the underlying source of our current difficulty and must be changed. Fourth, and most important-all tax breaks, incentives, and subsidies should be taken immediately away from the oil companies, pushed into research to develop new forms of energy-particulary hydrogen power. The country which develops a safe, clean, and cheap form of energy will lead the world into a new age. this, coupled with our invention of the greatest tool currently available-the internet (open, cheap, easy worldwide information sharing), could be THE answer-to just about anything. Why a massive, transparent effort to accomplish this feat of feats is not underway on a scale never before seen is incomprehensible. the fact that no leaders exist to say such things as i have mentioned is unimaginable. The tasks of environmental protection and the energetic pursuit of energy technologies in the context of capitalism do not clash. they, in fact must be married if the world is to be saved.

worldly dysfunctional and fantastically delicious
Today the US declared that no large caches of WMD were ever found. I could have made millions off of a W. bobblehead that kept repeating "weapons of mass destruction-weapons of mass destruction", and for all the hot air put out to spread that message there ARE NONE? Of course there are not any WMDs. There never was a capacity to produce, nor maintain such weapons by Iraq after Gulf War I-not to mention a means of delivery. But this hypocrisy will be accepted by the American masses and W will offer the usual explanations. Meanwhile Iraq is STILL in a horrible state(of dysfunction), with almost 2 years on the clock. I believe that so far we have failed. Miserably. And I predict further failure. So it is in America now.

THIS IS an addition, a postscript of purpose and pessimism on this day added, March 12 2k6, 14 months after the original.
My unease has lasted. Iraq, STILL with 60 per cent unemployment, STILL unrestful and in ever-increasing amounts. a two month old election and still no parliament in power, basic services inaccesible and unreliable at even moderate levels-even in baghdad-, a horrible prison complex spawing throughout the country, and im not through. but in retaliation those explaining cite schools, hospitals, public works jobs being completed-but why the low unemployment rate-not to mention the drain of talented workers! I am astonished the country is still managing to function on any level at all! Saddam's trial appears to be a bad joke, there are dozens of people being killed every day in some sort of bombing incident-and the general comes on television and says its going great! good. blasted all over foxnews and it becomes law. abiding citizens. this entire world is in such great flux, dynamically active metamorphosis which is traveling faster than any one person can comprehend and interpret. it is an amazing time to be alive and see such change, but frighteningly horrific and foreboding omens that are not good abound. from energy and the aquisition thereof, the sheer precarious position of world finances and the obstacles to peace. nigeria. rebebls. palestine. tobeornottobeastate. the wall. west banks. polluted rivers. iran. omigodtheymighthavenukesintenyears. (israel will probably end up attacking iran if anyone does.). climate. meltingice. nanotech. futuretech. quantum computing. whatafreakinworld. thats all. oh, and we are still failing in iraq, and i will be worrying about the consequences of whatever ends and if it will be well.
